Hi I’m using faux leather to cover a chair, it doesn’t seem very strong and I’m wondering if I should add some backing to it or glue a cotton fabric to it to make it stronger before I cover the chair.
many thanks 🙏🏽

I don't think it will really help to make it stronger, faux leather usually have a vowen back but if you glue it after all I'm afraid it would be a disaster... I never tried this personally. If you bought a cheap leather the top won't last long in any case. Cheap faux leather often end peeling off.
I used acetone to remove a pen mark on faux leather (which usually works great on fabric!), but it's a disaster the top layer has melted. What should ? I do please help !
Hello,
Unfortunately, this result is due to an irreversible chemical reaction: acetone is a solvent that dissolves the structure of the synthetic coating on faux leather (PU or PVC). Unlike genuine leather, faux leather can't be cleaned with this product it literally melts as you can see on the top layer !
This damage cannot be repaired: once the coating has melted, the material won't regain its original look or texture. The affected faux leather will need to be replaced.
Let me know if you'd like advice on next steps.
