Piping is one of the different ways to finish a chair.
I think the power of a piping color on the perception of a fabric is just amazing ! Let’s see how we could play with pipings !
Does my chair need simple or double piping ?
Double cord piping can be used instead of braid or decorative nails to hide the tacks or staples near the visible wood.

Simple cord piping are used between two fabrics pieces sewn together like around the cushions. You can also add simple corde piping on an outside back (and basically everywhere you have sewing.

Bergere chairs and piping
The bergere chair, because it’s an armchair with a least one cushion for the seat, is the perfect exemple of when you need both simple and double piping corde on one chair.
Same fabric, different piping
See the difference between this two chairs my students did with the same fabric. Both of these options are great. 🤩
Option 1: coral
The coral color add a warm tone to this chair using double welt cord and micro piping.

Option 2: turquoise
This cold blue brings a fresh touch to it. Making the blue patterns pop up more.

You love this fabric ?
This fabric we really love to is from Clarke and Clarke but this is an “old” design and I presume soon it will be out of stock 😱.
Strong contrast piping
Here we mixed a dark blue velvet with a bright yellow double cord piping on this Louis15 cabriolet chair.
